About Us

Kevan and Tammy Sorenson have been involved with music and worship ministry for the past 34 years, and children’s/family ministry since 1994.

Their biological children, Jaran (age 25), Jessa (age 22), and Jadan (age 22) have been active in the family music and children’s ministries for the past 20 plus years.

Jaran is a drummer, guitarist, songwriter, bass guitarist, and works with studio drumming, recording, and audio production with OTM Productions & Management in Nashville, TN; A.A.S. degree in Audio Production from Hennepin Technical College, Eden Prairie, MN.

Jadan is an acoustic, electric and bass guitarist in Atlanta, GA, a songwriter, artist, and holds an A.A.S degree in Graphic Design: Creative Emphasis.

Jessa is a vocalist, photographer in the Twin Cities, MN, a dancer, keyboards, and holds an A.A.S in Professional Photography.

The family adopted three children (siblings) from Guatemala in November of 2002. Jenna (age 24) Jocilyn (age 21), and Josiah (age 19) are an integral part of the five-fold family ministry (prayer, art, evangelism and ministry), as well as assisting with functional details.

Tammy’s Biography:
Tammy Sorenson is a Psalmist/Prophet/Teacher (Romans 12:4-8), a special ops Kingdom force, sharing her portion of Holy Spirit light and her key of music as a vessel to awaken, release, and activate freedom and restoration through the blood atonement of Jesus Christ to those caught in bondage (Isaiah 61). “Here I am, send me” (Isaiah 6:8).

Tammy Sorenson of Jaran Family Ministries, The Arts Expressed and Sound Expressions (renewing the body through sound) has been involved in music ministry since elementary school. She has a B.A. in Piano Performance, a B.S. in Vocal Music Education, an M.A. in Music Education, a Doctorate in Practical Theology, and is licensed and ordained by the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies. Jaran Family Ministries has ministered at family camps, conferences, seminars, prayer and worship gatherings, and women’s retreats. Sorenson has been involved in local church leadership, beginning in worship ministry leadership at age eleven, and serving the last 36 years with her husband, Kevan. She taught in the public school as a music educator for nearly 10 years, in private music instruction for 21 years, and as a home educator of their six children for 27 years. The Sorensons have three biological children, Jaran (27), twins Jessa and Jadan (24), and three adopted children from Guatemala, Jenna (24), Jocilyn (21), and Josiah (19), all of who have ministered with the family in various areas of giftings over the past 20 plus years. Tammy has also served in children’s and family ministry leadership 27 years, and House of Prayer ministry fifteen years. She is a pianist, singer, psalmist, songwriter, teacher, speaker, and author. The vision for The Arts Expressed and Sound Expressions can be seen in her both books and CD recording projects.

Kevan’s Biography: B.A. Music Performance/B.S. Finance, Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN; 34 years in business; licensed teacher and preacher; family and children’s ministry 19 years; keyboardist, guitarist, bass guitarist, sound specialist, arranger, recording and production for the family ministry.

Jaran’s Biography: is an independent musician who’s initial networking began in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began playing violin at the age of three, and moved onto piano at the age of five, drums at age nine, and guitar and bass in his early teens. He graduated from Hennepin Technical College with an A.A.S. degree in Audio Production at age 18. Jaran’s first gig as a drummer was with his family’s band, called Jaran Family Ministries, with whom he traveled the Midwest playing conferences, services, camps and church events for over ten years. He began playing recording sessions at the age of 15, playing on Nashville song pitches, and later moved onto jingles, demos and albums. After graduating Hennepin Technical College, he began independently producing and engineering records for local bands and singer songwriters. As part of his production, he played all the instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and programming) on several of the recordings. Jaran has been the drummer for many churches throughout Minnesota and the Twin Cities area. He was the main drummer for Substance Church, one of the fastest growing churches in America, and was also the head drum technician. He was also the first-call drummer for the Fifth Service Band at Living Word Christian Center. Jaran was a touring member of the band, Hyland, also appearing as an engineer on their full length album and in all of their music videos. Jaran currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Stephanie, pursuing his love and passion for drumming and the music industry. Jadan’s Biography:  Jadan is an acoustic, electric and bass guitarist, songwriter, artist, and holds an A.A.S degree in Graphic Design: Creative Emphasis, specializing in print media & brand identity (see Jadan Advertising and Design). He began studying mandolin, piano and bass guitar at age five, and guitar at age nine. He studied guitar at McPhail Center for Music. Minneapolis, MN. He has played guitar and bass with the Sorenson’s family music ministry since 1999. Since moving to the Twin Cities area in 2005, he has served on several church worship teams, including Living Waters Church, Substance Church, & Evangelist Crusaders Church. He has played with Paris Bennett (American Idol), Cameron Wright, High Praise Choir with David Hurst, and performed with various artists from Soullections, Darnell Davis and the Remnant, the gospel group God’s Will, and Core’ Cotton of Sounds of Blackness. Jadan has played with Kelli Rae & Sole Remedy, WASETI (We Are Strong Enough To Inspire with Sam Reeves), the Nick Riley Band, the Chirch Crooner, and is currently a musician with Living Word Christian Center 5th Service & Main Service Worship Ministries.

Jessa’s Biography: Jessa is a vocalist, dancer, keyboards, and holds an A.A.S in Professional Photography. Jessalyn Photography specializes in art photography for marketing, musicians and photography for engagements, weddings and graduations. She has been featured on the CD releases of Kelli Rae & Sole Remedy and Cameron Wright, both from the Twin Cities. Jessa was a Top 8 Finalist in Spirit 92.9 Opening Act Competition, and has served in worship ministries at Living Waters Church, Living Word Christian Center Driven Youth Group, and Substance Church in the Twin Cities. She has been a vocalist with Kelli Rae & Sole Remedy, WASETI (We Are Strong Enough To Inspire with Sam Reeves), Soullections, and is networking both her photography & music in the Twin Cities.
