The Fellowship of His Sufferings

Since about 1997, I have received numerous amazing prophetic words over me. I continue to wait on many of those words to manifest in my life. As a family, we have received both amazing words, as well as some disconcerting words involving something in the spirit realm that says, ‘hit me;’ something in the spirit realm giving the enemy access to hold us captive. As the assaults against us continue to increase on so many fronts, it would be fairly easy to embrace this mindset and simply give up. In fact, there are swimming pools of repentance and intercession made on our behalf in the spirit realm over the years simply because of this mindset; tears of repentance, tears of binding and loosing, tears of shame and condemnation, etc., tears over the generational/cultural/religious spirits/open doors/etc. on behalf of both my husband and myself, our birth children, as well as on behalf of our adopted children and their family line.

We absolutely know that the blood of Jesus covers it all perfectly and completely. So why does the enemy continue to come in like a flood in this hour? Name any familiar and important Bible reference and we, those who seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, are having to walk it out: Abraham and Sarah, Job, Joseph, Ester and Mordecai, David, Daniel, Isaiah, the disciples…and yes, especially…the sufferings of Christ Himself. I vividly remember back in 2011 when Holy Spirit led me to New Testament Scriptures about the sufferings of Christ being a gift.

Philippians 1:29-30, “For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake, not only to believe and confidently trust in Him, but also to suffer for His sake [and so you are] experiencing the same [kind of] conflict which [a]you saw me endure, and which you hear to be mine now.”

Phillippians 3:10-11, “And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; [a]so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.”

1 Peter 4: 12-19, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you. But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy. If you are insulted and reviled for [bearing] the name of Christ, you are blessed [happy, with life-joy and comfort in God’s salvation regardless of your circumstances], because the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you [and indwelling you—He whom they curse, you glorify]. Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or a thief, or any sort of criminal [in response to persecution], or as a troublesome meddler interfering in the affairs of others; but if anyone suffers [ill-treatment] as a [a]Christian [because of his belief], he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God [because he is considered worthy to suffer] in this name. For it is the time [destined] for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not respect or believe or obey the gospel of God? And if it is difficult for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the godless and the sinner? Therefore, those who are ill-treated and suffer in accordance with the will of God must [continue to] do right and commit their souls [for safe-keeping] to the faithful Creator.”

Not a very popular message, nor one that would make the crowds say, “Yes! Here I am, Lord, send me!” Yet, that is precisely the decree our family has made. Therefore, the whole Gospel is one we must be willing to endure and persevere through, including and especially, the refining fires, testing of our faith, pruning, and yes, the sufferings of Christ, if we truly want His fruit to remain: His love – loving our Lord and loving others with our Heavenly Father’s unconditional love; seeing/hearing/relating to other’s through His love in this NOW time, as opposed to our own. If we truly want to carry His glory, advancing His Kingdom throughout the Earth, preparing the Earth and the peoples for His rule and reign, witnessing Him manifest who He alone can be, as sons, we are called to yield ALL of ourselves and this life to HIS Kingdom and HIS righteousness – to Holy Spirit leading for His appointed times on the Earth – appointed times we have NOW eternally entered in to in this Hebrew year of Jubilee, 5776…HIS appointed times that all Creation groans for.

Romans 8:22-24, “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?”

Which brings us to faith. Hebrews 11:1-2, “Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. For by this [kind of] faith the [a]men of old gained [divine] approval.”

Every one of the Bible greats I previously mentioned had their faith tested, pruned, and refined by the fires of hope-deferred promises. Yet, they did not waver. They did not give up. They did not receive the words of their accusers. I would also speculate they prayed for deliverance and forgiveness from double mindedness and doubt as they persevered and pressed toward the One in whom all of their trust and hope was placed, simply because He is Faithful and True.

This is the adventure we are blessed to live as saints and sons of the Most High. This day we rise. This day we shine (Isaiah 60). This day His mercies are new. This day we press toward the mark of our high calling. He who is faithful will show Himself strong on behalf of those who intimately know Him (Daniel 11:32).

He is the Hope we look to. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The only prophetic words to be released from our lips in this NOW season are words of encouragement, edification, and comfort. Anything less is not the heart of Adonai – our Heavenly Father, who is the manifestation of unconditional love. Anything less is not the heart of Christ, who gave His life for intimate love relationship to be restored on behalf of ALL mankind. NOW is the time to press into resting in His love more deeply than ever before. His eyes are searching to and fro for those whom He can show Himself strong.

2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”

Why? Because there is an abundant worldwide harvest awaiting those who have remained faithful to the One who alone is Faithful…awaiting those who intimately know their Heavenly Father, their Messiah, and Holy Spirit, their Teacher…awaiting those who would go to the ends of the Earth for all the world to see that He is truly who His Word says He is…the embodiment of Love itself.

Hillsongs released this bullseye decree back in 2003:

Love unfailing
Overtaking my heart
You take me in
Finding peace again
Fear is lost
In all you are

And I would give the world to tell Your story
Cause I know that You’ve called me
I know that You’ve called me
I’ve lost myself for good within Your promise
I won’t hide it
I won’t hide it

Jesus, I believe in You
And I would go to the ends of the earth
To the ends of the earth
For You alone are the Son of God
And all the world will see
That You are God
You are God

We have arrived, sons. Remain steadfast in the waiting. Be expecting His suddenlies amidst the circumstances that appear utterly impossible. He is still the One who makes straight the crooked paths, and provides a way out of the wilderness. Go out and share the testimony of Christ for all the world to see and hear (Isaiah 61). This is our destiny, sons of the Most High. This is possessing the Kingdom within us.

Daniel 7:21-28, “As I kept looking, that horn was making war with the saints (believers) and overpowering them until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Most High [God], and the time arrived when the saints (believers) took possession of the kingdom…Then the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints (believers) of the Most High; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.”
