About Us

Kevan and Tammy Sorenson have been involved with music and worship ministry for the past 30 years, and children’s/family ministry since 1994.

The Sorenson Family

Their biological children, Jaran (age 20), Jessa (age 17), and Jadan (age 17) have been active in the family music and children’s ministries for the past twelve years.

Jaran is a drummer, guitarist, songwriter, bass guitarist, and works with recording and production; A.A.S. degree in Audio Production from Hennepin Technical College, Eden Prairie, MN.

Jadan is an acoustic, electric and bass guitarist, songwriter, artist, and holds an A.A.S degree in Graphic Design: Creative Emphasis.

Jessa vocalist, dancer, keyboards, and holds an A.A.S in Professional Photography.

The family adopted three children (siblings) from Guatemala in November of 2002. Jenna (age 18), Jocilyn (age 16), and Josiah (age 13) are an integral part of the five-fold family ministry (prayer, art, evangelism and ministry), as well as assisting with functional details.

Tammy’s Biography: Tammy Sorenson of Jaran Family Ministries and the arts express’d has been involved in music ministry since elementary school. She has a B.A. in Piano Performance, a B.S. in Vocal Music Education, an M.A. in Music Education, a Doctorate in Practical Theology, and is licensed and ordained by the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies. Jaran Family Ministries has ministered at family camps, conferences, seminars, prayer and worship gatherings, and women’s retreats. Sorenson has been involved in local church leadership, beginning in worship ministry leadership at age eleven, and serving the last 30 years with her husband, Kevan. She taught in the public school as a music educator for nearly 10 years, in private music instruction for 21 years, and as a home educator of their six children for 17 years. The Sorensons have three biological children, Jaran (21), twins Jessa and Jadan (18), and three adopted children from Guatemala, Jenna (18), Jocilyn (16), and Josiah (13), all of who have ministered with the family in various areas of giftings over the past 16 years. Tammy has also served in children’s and family ministry leadership 16 years, and House of Prayer ministry seven years. She is a pianist, singer, psalmist, songwriter, teacher, speaker, and author. The vision for the arts express’d is presented in her books, No More Orphans!,The  Journey of Adoption, I Am A Good Idea!, a collaboration with her daughter, Jocilyn, called The Little Ugly House, and her most recent book project entitled, Hidden Treasure, Kingdom Jewels and Me! Sorenson has done a number of CD projects, with her most recent being Spontaneous Expressions (a spontaneous prophetic instrumental family CD, unrehearsed and created during recording – includes Scripture, prayer, and one original worship song with vocals),  No More Orphans! Intercessory Piano CD and Companion Book (spontaneous instrumental intercession on behalf of every at-risk child throughout the world: born and unborn), and The Journey (instrumental intercession utilizing software that converts the Hebrew to musical notation, and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit adding harmonies, rhythms, and form to transform the spoken Word into a musical word). Kevan’s Biography: B.A. Music Performance/B.S. Finance, Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN; 30 years in business; licensed teacher and preacher; family and children’s ministry 16 years; keyboardist, guitarist, bass guitarist, sound specialist, arranger, recording and production for the family ministry.

Jadan’s Biography: began studying mandolin, piano and bass guitar at age five, and guitar at age nine. He studied guitar at McPhail Center for Music. Minneapolis, MN. He has played guitar and bass with the Sorenson’s family music ministry since 1999. He has served on several church worship teams in the Twin cities including Substance Church, Evangelist Crusaders Church, & Living Word Christian Center. He has played with Paris Bennett (American Idol), Cameron Wright, Kelli Rae & Sole Rememdy, High Praise Choir with David Hurst, and performed with artists from Darnell Davis and the Remnant, the gospel group God’s Will, and Co’re Cotten of Sounds of Blackness. In addition to his music background , Jadan holds an A.A. S. Degree in Graphic Design: Creative Emphasis, specializing in print media & brand identity.
